A. The Outcome Based Assessment (OBA) is a two-stage assessment process: a multiple-choice question exam (MCQ) and an objective structured clinical exam. Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives (IQNMs) must pass the first stage before moving to the next stage. Stage one is a cognitive assessment, which is a computer-based MCQ exam. IQNMs must pass the exam to move to part two of the OBA Stage two is a behavioural assessment in the form of an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). The OSCE has been developed to assess that an IQNM demonstrates the knowledge, skills and competence of a graduate level Australian nurse or midwife.

A. The OBA Preparation Class Is open to all onshore and offshore students. You will need to conduct a self-check to see your eligibility. NETA accepts enrolments to candidates who hold one of the following:a. The candidate has MCQ and OSCE steps in self check process b. The candidate has AHPRA referral letter c. The candidate has an Authority to take (ATT) from AHPRA.
A. We do not stop candidates who wants to improve knowledge and skills, or would like to join the class to review for NCLEX and OSCE for other countries. We will seek a written consent that the decision in joining the class is informed.
A. Self-check is free of charge if you would like to know your steps. However, if you wish to proceed with the process, AHPRA charges $640 AUD as an assessment fee.
A. NCLEX- RN For registered nurses, the NCLEX-RN registration fee is $200 USD, plus an additional international scheduling fee of $150 USD ($350 USD in total). OSCE- The fee for sitting the OSCE is $4,000 AUD Registration fee - The current application fee of $300 AUD and registration fee of $175 AUD/year.
A. OBA is a Permanent and consistent approach for all IQNMs. All Stream B candidates now referred to OBA. The time that will take for the whole process will depend on the outcome of each part of the steps.
A. NCLEX Prep is an Eight Weeks of online coaching. You will receive a fully supported course from NETA’s highly qualified and experienced Nurse Educators. You will be provided with 6 months access to online resources. OSCE Prep is three weeks of Online learning and Five Days of Lab based Face to Face training.
A. While clinical placement is a good learning avenue, OSCE is focused in simulated nursing skills. NETA strives to provide candidates safe learning environment where skills are learned as many times as needed until full confidence is gained. This is achieved through simulation. For example: OSCE may ask a candidate to perform an NGT or IDC insertion and cardio pulmonary resuscitation in which there lesser to no opportunity for students to perform these skills in the clinical placement.
A. We do not require English Test result to join in our classes. IQNMs who are seeking registration in Australia will require English test result once they have completed NCLEX and OSCE and ready to apply for registration.

A. Once you pass your MCQ, your IQNM dashboard will advise you that you are eligible to sit the OSCE. Then you will be advised to pay the OSCE fee. After recieving your fee, the IQNM exams team will contact you in relation to upcoming dates.
A. The OSCE Examination fee is not refundable. If you can no longer attend the examination date you have selected and need to re-schedule, please refer to the Changing your Scheduled examination section in the RN OSCE Candidate Handbook.
A. AHPRA will offer candidates the examination dates as they become available. Candidates are only eligible to attend the RN OSCE Exam on the dates offered at the time of the booking . Ahpra does not coordinate exams for individual candidates’ calendars in mind. If you are unavailable for the dates you have been provided, the IQNM exam team will be in contact with you as soon as new dates become available.
A. You need to make a request to reschedule at least 3 full business days (72 hours) before your scheduled exam date and time. A. According to NMBA OSCE FAQs section: Candidates will be allocated to either an AM or PM session. Each session will go for approximately 3-3.5hrs. It is recommended to ensure you do not book any travel or accommodation until you know which date and session you are allocated to.
A. candidate will be expected to participate in 10 individual stations. Each station is allocated ten (10) minutes which is allocated as follows: • Two (2) minutes – Reading time outside of the exam room • Eight (8) minutes – Interaction or performance time inside of the room.
